Time - there never seems to be enough of it. And now they've gone and taken an hour away. You did remember to set your clocks ahead last night - didn't you? I know in theory we will get it back in the fall, but frankly I don't like time changes and I don't want to wait that long. What does this have to do with photography? Photography freezes time. Whether taking photos to document an event for an organization, a field trip, a vacation, or even a selfie - that moment won't ever happen again. Memories fade, buildings are demolished, and friends leave. Take some of your precious time to document a memory so in the future you, and others, can look at that photo and perhaps remember so much more.Thank you to everyone who's helped to document, post and share so many special moments with the club. Giving up your time to benefit others is a wonderful gift to give our community.

WHAT: PHOTO REVIEW and
A SPECIAL PRESENTATION BY
FLORIDA'S BIRDING & PHOTO FEST
WHEN: MARCH 20, 2017
TIME: 7pm - 9pm
For our meeting bring 4-5 pictures taken at the last meeting, Photo Workshop. These photos should be in a separate folder and should be straight out of the camera with no processing. Bring some that worked and some that didn't.
Also bring 5-7 pictures from recent events or any other recent photos you want to share. If you have other pictures that you would like help with bring them also and if we have time we will see what we can do. Use a separate labeled folders on a thumb drive with only those photos in it to make it easy for our projectionist.
|
The 2017 Birding & Photo Fest will feature the return of festival favorites, world-class photographers along with new professionals and instructors who will offer technical training opportunities and more birding in-field programs than ever before.
As always, festival participants will benefit from insights and instruction from a collection of upper echelon international nature and wildlife photographers - a group that continues to solidify Florida's Birding & Photo Fest as one of the premier events in North America. And of course the community of St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra and all of Florida's Historic Coast is welcoming bird lovers and photography aficionados with the friendly hospitality you've come to expect. CITY HALL GALLERY
Theme - Open - Deadline March 22
|
The theme for the next round of photos for the City Hall Gallery is open and the deadline for submissions is midnight, March 22, 2017. You may submit up to five photos taken of any subject in any location (G rated please). They must have been taken since March 22, 2015. We will be choosing five new photos for City Hall. The five oldest photos in City Hall will be moved to the Annex building to replace five of the photos currently there. Their three favorite photos, from among the current group hanging, will remain in the annex until the next change.
The submissions will be handled a little differently this time. Please email the club that you wish to participate and you will be provided a link to a dropbox folder for your photos. Do not create a dropbox folder yourself to submit photos. All files submitted should be at a ratio of 3 x 4 but file should be large enough to print at 12x16.
You will only be able to see your photos, you will not be able to see the other submissions until after the submission deadline. All submitted photos will be renamed to be anonymous and submitted to our curator for the selection process. You will receive a confirmation email after the photos are renamed and submitted so you can verify they have all been provided to the curator. Once the selection process is completed all submissions will be placed into a nonpublic folder for everyone to see. If your photograph is chosen there will be a $50.00 charge for printing and framing your photograph. All photos will be printed by the club for a consistent appearance.
